- Use Tormek woodturning jigs on a conventional bench grinder
- Benefit from the fast steel removal of the bench grinder
- Shape your tools quickly and precisely
- Use the Tormek whetstone to refine and hone the edge
- Exact profiles repeatable time after time
There is distinction between shaping and sharpening. Once the tool is shaped, you just want to touch up the edge, never removing more steel than necessary. The time consuming initial shaping is now possible using a bench grinder in conjunction with the Tormek BGM-100 Mounting Set as it can be done faster on a bench grinder than on the Tormek whetstone system. With the BGM-100 you can use your Tormek jigs and setting devices on a bench grinder, giving you perfect control and making the transfer to your Tormek for final finishing simple. The shape and edge angle are precisely repeatable even when you move onto the larger diameter wheel of a Tormek machine. This means you can benefit from the fast steel removal of the bench grinder and get the finest surface on the water cooled grindstone and the leather honing wheel. The BGM-100 also allows the use of other Tormek woodturners jigs in combination with a bench grinder such as the SVS-50 Multi-jig and SVD-110 Toolrest. The BGM-100 comprises a horizontal base, a Tormek universal tool support, fixing kit and complete instructions. Suitable for most 150, 200 or 250mm double ended bench grinders.
